  1. "HBO poured all of it's resources into one final season". Please. Don't blame HBO for this, HBO wanted to drain it's bank accounts and give us at least 10 seasons with the standard 10 episodes each, presumably, while GRRM believed it had 12-13 seasons in it. The decision was not on either of them. The decision falls on D&D, predominately, but you also have to consider that's at least two more years more like 4-5 (based on how long this took) of their lives. Maisie started at age 12, ended at 22, to put it in perspective. It almost makes you wonder to do an epic fantasy on the scale they did on which fans are spoiled now for longer than 8 seasons is even possible with live actors.
