@Sir-Pleiades They wouldn't sell or donate aircraft carriers considering the US has seemingly doubled if not tripled down on the aircraft carrier initiative since we started building them. Currently we have more aircraft carriers than the rest of the developed world does COMBINED. Not only that, we have 10 or 11 more that are in construction as we speak. China is trying to build some right now too but currently they only have one I believe. This is why a lot of people think that China might actually abandon the idea of trying to compete with aircraft carriers as much to fight the wars of the future, and that they might instead be thinking of other ways to inflict damage on us that we can't necessarily protect ourselves from with our massive advantage in aircraft carriers and the weapons and aircraft they carry. Cough coronavirus cough .

Yeah well if it wasn't for Pearl Harbor most likely the US wouldn't have ever entered the fray and it's quite possible the Germans would have won the war and then focused their efforts on the West. This is why there are actually a lot of people who believe that people high up in power in America not only knew the Japanese were about to attack, they ALLOWED it to happen to galvanize the American people and inspire them to enter the fray.

@dxmlsathcdphdmt8250 I am pretty sure you don't get to use drugs regardless of which branch you join. Unless they're government approved painkillers or whatever, which I hear they'll even send you in the mail if you ask for them, are enlisted, and have a legitimate reason for needing them. But no, I am not denying people do use drugs in the military and get away with it but I also know for a fact that they do OBSERVED piss tests similar to what parolees have to take, so no urine replacement or anything traditionally used to pass tests are gonna fly. Nope, the government wants you all to themselves if they're going to own you basically for a few years and especially if they're going to invest the resources they plan on investing in you. Gotta protect that investment. lol

Now Russia is threatening to DETACH their portion of the ISS because we don't get along with them anymore. It's like when roommates can't get along so they literally draw a line that cuts the house in half like "This is your half, this is my half". Technically they don't need to be attached but part of the great thing that the ISS stood for at least traditionally speaking is that it showed what countries could accomplish if they worked TOGETHER.

I do think it's kind of one of those things, USA already has by far the most carriers in the entire world. What if something else even better than that comes along that renders aircraft carriers useless (I mean, I am trying to think of whatever it could be myself and am at a loss thus far) then we have a large, expensive collection of things that aren't even that effective anymore for traditional purposes? When I say more I mean we have, or will have when the carriers are all finished, like literally 10x as many as the country with the second most.

Midsommar anyone? I mean, not a Bull... but a Bear. But still.

Not only that there were many people who actually took their own lives because they were either too young to serve OR were denied entry into the service for one reason or another. Handicaps, things like that.
