You ask why DID they hate Dane Cook... I'm not sure they ever stopped hating him. I think what you mean to say is he fell off in a huge way... but that's not somehow getting back in the good graces of people. Anyway, they hated him for becoming extremely popular and also basically having jokes that all sounded in a way too similar to one another, to such an extent he was only funny in the way that he said certain things like "Target" becomes "Tarjay" etc. Also I think he got accused of stealing a lot of jokes, something you should NEVER do in the comedy world. Literal fights have happened over that sort of thing.
