  5. That's a shame. Unbelievable even, the only thing I thought to say first is maybe back then the Grammy's being an American production weren't as focused on international acts. But that's just a guess. Beyond that, that's kind of the problem with award shows. Certainly back then there was a lot of great music being made, and not everyone can be much more than just nominated. Not everyone can win. But yes, as pointed out, they were nominated a few times which makes more sense. In the movie world, even Martin Scorsese who started out making great films from basically the moment he really started in the 70s took until 2006 to win his first actual Academy Award. I think that in retrospect given how political these awards shows are that if they knew Freddie was going to be taken from us so suddenly and so surprisingly and to see the legacy they truly did have years later they may have given them a Grammy or two earlier when they could. But when he died, he literally only had just announced the day before he was sick, so it was literally one of those cases of "You don't know what you have till it's gone" with him. We took him for granted, the only thing that could really be made a parallel would be if Elton John had gotten sick for similar reasons and we lost him instead, while keeping Freddie and Queen much longer. By the way, look out for the new Elton John movie coming soon by the way! They advertised it during tonight's Oscars.

  6.  @faithful2008  I mean they toured America even in their early days though, too. I think the #1 thing that hurt Queen the most is the same thing that hurt all the good acts back then, there was just a lot of really great music being made back then, stuff that's all considered classic now. And there can only be one winner. It does seem a crime in retrospect that Queen never won a single one but I am not shocked at all to learn they got nominated a few times.

  7. This is fucking gold, I didn't realize how old it was till Axl walked out on stage. And I didn't read the description till later. But yeah, 1992. Guns N Roses was still together back then. A year after Freddie died. :-/

  8. I have never seen a female security guard in my life, not to call you a liar or anything. Maybe she's a handler for the actual guys or something, the voice that goes through the earpiece so to speak. Beyond that, no fking idea.

  9. Also ... yeah, Axl wasn't exactly the least homophobic person in the world, he had made several comments about gays in the past. Elton John came out in 1988. I wouldn't say he's homophobic but based on the comments you kind of have to wonder, but that was also just a different time.

  11. I don't think we'll have another Freddie Mercury again in the next century, honestly. There have been great frontmen who came up in their own right who are all legends as well, but there will never, NEVER be another Freddie at least not in our lifetimes. That level of genius only comes around every so often. The kind that absolutely cannot help but fight it's way out of you and into whatever you want to do with it creatively.

  14. Here's the thing, I do think Freddie was mostly gay. Obviously. Like if everyone is actually in fact really bisexual but we all fall on spectrums, he was like 90-100% gay I imagine but he did love the first girlfriend he had while he was resisting those urges I guess. It didn't take long for him to stop resisting it altogether though, which is the way that it should've gone but even in his case I think he was having wild sex parties with basically everyone, including the occasional woman or two. But no I think it's undeniable that as we all develop our preferences, by and large he preferred men but I almost don't believe in 100% gay or straight in anyone. I think there's love and what humans have the capacity to do with it, or lack thereof.
