I remember back in the day when VICE's "Getting high on Snake Venom" introduced me to this guy. Since then they're literally studying his blood now to create better anti-venoms because his body has essentially become an antibody superhouse as it regards that.

@leonamay8776 I don't think there will be, I think he's just developed a functional immunity to all these different kinds of venoms. That's basically how vaccine theory works anyway, by introducing the disease to the body in controlled amounts (too little to get sick from, but enough to spark some kind of change in your body) your body slowly begins building antibodies towards it. So by studying his blood they're going to be able to make superior anti-venoms for human beings to use. They never had this opportunity before where some guy is willingly subjecting himself to the snake's venom before. That documentary is fascinating though, he does a better job explaining his motivations as far as getting into all that than I could here.

@LAX3R47 They are literally now discovering new antivenoms because of the antibodies that are being developed in his blood stream. He has volunteered his body to science since then. They never had someone as insane as he was where he'd voluntarily introduce venom into his bloodstream before but because he does and because he has they're able to study him to develop better antivenoms as a result. He may never be fully immune to it but he is developing immunities. It's not impossible when you think about tolerance in all of it's other forms. "Coming from a medical background" if you have to say, I automatically don't believe you.

@LAX3R47 You're not seriously comparing a horse to a human are you? Moreover, a horse that was bit three times vs. a human giving themselves small and controllable doses EVERY SINGLE DAY for their entire lives to build up tolerance aka immunity to the substance? You really think the horse had the opportunity to tell the snake "Hey when you bite me make sure to only give me so much I am trying to build up tolerance". Good luck with your failed medical career, aka being a veterinarian that doesn't even understand biochemistry on the most basic level.
