Dave Chappelle: "You can't become un-famous. You can become infamous, but you can't ever become UN-famous."

So soft spoken, as well. Yeah he's always kind of been that way but I feel like it's even more pronounced now. He shouldn't have let his ego take control of his life though because that was what drove the band apart when it did. And of course by the time he wanted to get back "on the ride" the music world had basically moved past him and his style of music. They were getting older, etc. Sure there will always be people who go see the Pumpkins. That will never change. But (and this pisses Billy off a lot actually) most of them don't want to hear your "new stuff". They just want to hear the classics. So whether you do so reluctantly or fully willingly, that is what 90% of the people in that room are expecting from you and if you want to continue touring you'd do well to realize that ASAP. As a professional musician anyway. He shouldn't have let the band dissolve when he had the chance to stop it but alas hindsight will always be 20/20.

Don't even get me started on everlasting gaze. That wasn't even the beginning of the end for the Pumpkins, that was like stage two or three in their slow downfall from the Mellon Collie and (for me especially) Siamese Dream, which I consider to still be the best album they ever did. The quintessential 90's hard rock album. From track one you are just back in 1992 or 3 or whatever. Don't believe me? Go listen to Siamese Dream now from beginning to end. It's a masterpiece IMO and easily the best album they've ever done.

You ever heard of that thing they call a figure of speech? I mean, a poor choice of words absolutely because the conspiracy theorists will just go crazy, but like the idea that they're actually physically selling their souls to the Devil with his bright red horns and swishy tail or whatever, like, I mean honestly there's just no cure for such an amount of stupidity. But no, he didn't mean it as literally as people clearly have run away with since hearing him say it. Just another mistake by the blunderful Billy Corgan.

@zacatewzrd4428 Example? I mean even like Edward Furlong from Terminator 2 who by all accounts should have had a long and promising career only to sabotage himself with erratic behavior and various drug addictions is barely memorable in the minds of most people... but he still has a Wikipedia page. He's still more famous than I am or likely will ever be. It's one of those things you can't ever undo or take back. Another example of someone who has tried desperately to become forgotten in the eyes of history as it relates to Hollywood is Kel Mitchell from Kenan and Kel.

LOL thanks fam but for real though like the idea that the act of "selling your soul to the devil" is at BEST just some stupid ritual thing rich people maybe do or are forced to do. I doubt that the Devil himself is actually receiving their applications and reviewing them on a soul-by-soul basis as to whether he will accept them or not. I am not denying some people try to sell their soul to the devil but what I do deny is that the ritual works. At all. It just makes the person trying to sell their soul look all the more stupid.

Here's to the Atom Bomb is an underrated favorite of mine by theirs. I used to listen to it every morning before school, on YouTube actually. Rocket is a more mainstream one but I love it as well. Both are just classic great, crunchy wall-of-sound Pumpkins goodness.

@HBC423 People who "used to be famous" are still famous though. Especially now. There are IMDB pages, wikipedia articles, all this shit to immortalize them and if you're telling me that them NOT being in the position they were to become famous at all is the same as it is for them being "formerly famous" spotlight wise, like the examples I mentioned and yet you failed to mention a single one, then you're a moron. Sorry. You can't mention someone who tried to escape celebrity who isn't going to be desribed as a "former star" or a "former child celebrity" more relevantly. That's just not the way it works.

Billy Corgan loves being worshiped, he loves that aspect of celebrity so it does make sense he'd be cool in that scenario. However, he's basically by all accounts a nightmare to work with.

Billy Corgan is definitely one of those types of people who it takes having something done to him for him to understand how bad it makes others feel, like he calls it "weird territory" because they go off and start doing side deals without the band like he did. It wasn't fucking weird when you did it, but when they did it it just ruffled your little control freak feathers didn't it Mr. Corgan?

@user-qt5eh9wb7g Yeah he's a goddamn fool. "Oh there's tons of examples I just can't think of a single one" uhhhh I can and I did. That's not evidence of them being un-famous, that's an example of the other dude having an extremely poor memory lol

Billy Corgan is the definition of a controlling bandleader though. It may not be the case anymore, but the best stuff they ever wrote and recorded the rumor is the only thing he didn't do was the drums.

I wouldn't believe Billy's accounts of being a rockstar unless it's prefaced with "back when I was still famous and relevant before I destroyed my own band out of my own pride and ego" because Billy Corgan is like the opposite of a relevant rockstar nowadays. And I was a fan back when he was relevant. I love the stuff he put out back then, it's THE 90's in audible form for me as much as Nirvana is, but he's not done anything interesting besides making outlandish statements in interviews since about the year 1999.

I used to really love Billy Corgan but right now I think he's basically completely given in to the narcissism and his ego. It was always there but it's just gotten worse. That little allegory about buying a Ferrari in Beverly Hills, no less, with cash .... like for all you out there who don't have jobs yet or understand the value of things and/or money like you have to understand NOBODY buys cars with cash except drug dealers and rock stars. I dunno, it's a neat story but just the way Billy says it. He's absolutely in love with himself but can't for the life of him figure out why nobody else on the planet is, considering his latest tour flopped.
