  1. It's basically impossible to get away with robbing banks in the modern age. At least for the money involved, it's not worth it. That doesn't mean you can't make money doing heists, it's just that you are likely never to meet a group of people with the skill or balls required to do it. The Pink Panther gang are perhaps the greatest example of successful, Ocean's Eleven type thieves operating in real life. They do not rob banks. They rob like museums and jewelry stores and shit. But that actually presents a different challenge, because if you steal the Mona Lisa what are you gonna do try to pawn it? What they do is they already have a buyer in mind who either is willing to take whatever the thieves can get (but for about 40-50% less of the overall value because they are also taking a risk especially if they're gonna be the middle man for some other rich client who doesn't mind stolen collectibles) or they may hire them to go steal something specific just for them. But banks? Not enough money and too many things can go wrong.

  2. Animal Kingdom is an underrated TV show about a family of heisters/thieves. It's pretty realistic, too, they use some pretty creative yet necessary techniques to facilitate the crimes. They also don't really make THAT much doing it, not for the risk they put themselves in. Beyond that it's well written and well acted. Check it out, it's on Netflix I think? Or Prime Video. One of those.
