What do you mean "if we get another"? GTA6 is already announced and footage of it was leaked pretty famously not too long ago. It's not gonna be in Cali though like GTA5 was based on, but instead it's going to be based on Vice City aka Miami.

@kibblesnbits3174 Yeah the amount of money GTA5 made them is just staggeringly huge. And they've been working on GTA6 for years most likely before announcing it.

That one's famous I am pretty sure everyone has seen that one. Shepard Smith was the anchor. I may be mistaken but I am pretty sure that's one of the reasons they started airing things with a 7 second delay if live so they can stop it in time in case something crazy like that happens again.

@ReynKing I suspect it's even more than that, considering when it releases it's guaranteed to recoup every single dime and then some. Easily.

@ReynKing Well if any game is going to do something unprecedented, it's going to be a big blockbuster title like a GTA game. I do think $500 mil is probably the safer estimate and you can do a lot with that kind of money, but even back when GTA5 dropped it made $1 billion dollars on day ONE. And that was before they realized how much of a cash cow GTA Online would be. Who knows how much that game has made in total by now, but I will say this if they spend $2 billion developing it they'll make it back very fast then I suspect they'll milk it into oblivion the same way they did with GTA5, re-releasing every few years, farming GTA Online in the meantime, etc etc etc. They could spend $5 billion and the game would probably still be profitable for them in the long run... but yeah still, $500 million is probably the correct figure.

@ReynKing I think that all began to change when GTA3 came out. It really began to change around the time GTA4 came out, but that was built on the success of GTA3, Vice City and San Andreas before it. Those games just got better and better and better, as well as more groundbreaking. Rockstar isn't the same company as they used to be sadly, but nobody can deny they've basically made video games at least as influential as movies and now TV shows if not so MORE influential.

@avaisnotreal Why not specify it that way? That's not what they meant. Not grammatically speaking, otherwise they'd have said "If we ever get another one after GTA6" or something like that. It literally just says "If we ever get another ONE".

It's amazing to me sometimes people run from chases just because they don't want to pull over and have nothing on them, but generally speaking they run because they know if they get caught they're going to prison for a long ass time. So they invariably try to take their own lives if they know the jig is up rather than face the music, whether they're riding dirty or they're wanted felons or it's their third strike and it will mean life or whatever, so in the case of the guy who jumped out of the speeding car, that was probably his last resort and he was HOPING to die and it is probably because he didn't have a gun on him at the time.
