The Son of Sam thing is apparently real. He became a born again Christian in 1987 and now insists on being called the "Son of Hope" vs. the "Son of Sam". I thought it was satire but it's 100% real.

Most are scams. I am not saying there aren't some LEOs who are using the Dark Web to try to find people and/or like build a list of people to watch (anyone who tries to order a hitman or find child porn etc on the Dark Web -- in fact I hope they're doing that just for the sake of public safety) but most of them are scams, they're looking to either steal bitcoin or some other crypto from you OR blackmail you once they get your information because you tried to buy some sketchy shit online.

Well, for one thing he has a now out of print book called "Son of Hope" (you can see it listed on Amazon) and naturally it's selling for almost $1k (because it's now out of print). He also has a website that is NOT on the Dark Web as well, or someone is running it for him or something. No, he apparently is like one of the only serial killers to truly repent something I didn't know until watching this video.

@johnhawthorn5393 Yeah man I've seen it. It's a Spike Lee movie. It's not bad. You'd think that the movie would be entirely about him and maybe the detectives trying to catch him or whatever based on that title and premise, but actually he's only a minor character in it. It is based on that actual summer in New York City which was unusually hot and everyone is basically scared out of their minds to go outside, and increasingly they're growing more and more paranoid that any one among them might actually be the killer. Especially true when it comes to the punk rock character who loved being a misfit until it started landing him accusations of being the killer himself. It's less about Son of Sam as a serial killer and more about the fear he was driving into people's hearts while he was still on the loose, racking up more victims every other day. Ruined friendships via paranoia, etc. Ruined relationships in similar ways. Interesting movie. Not my favorite Spike Lee movie ever made but if it's on, I will usually watch it.

Satanism really is kind of a religion that is built from the ground up on selfish principles. I don't think they'd like to hear it described that way, but basically whereas most other religions call for caring for all of humanity as if they were you, Satanism is all about forgetting that and building your SELF up. Taking care of your SELF. And if you do anything harmful or detrimental, whether it was fun or not, take responsibility for it. It doesn't call for animal sacrifice in fact it's strictly forbidden in the official Church of Satan to harm anyone other than yourself (and again, even then, do it responsibly and accept responsibility for your actions). But yeah. I blame them calling it Satanism honestly, but then again it wouldn't have 10% of the members it does if it didn't call itself that.
