Almost 15 million Muslims will live in Russia , including 5 million Tatars , 2 million Bashkirs , and 1 million Chechens . All of them are fighting in the Russian army , some by conscription , and some by contract . In Russia , Muslims have their own republics with a president and parliament , no one forbids them to speak their own language and teach it at school , as they do in Ukraine against Russians .

@Nieboret Once again , the Tatars in Crimea are as new a people as everyone else . The Russian principality had lands in the Crimea hundreds of years before the arrival of the Mongols . Russia conquered Crimea in the war and this was the last time when Crimea passed to another people .
