  7. My statement was meant to be a more nuanced perspective. Obviously I'm not a Luddite or I wouldn't be here. I am suggesting that the use of tools isn't the ONLY hallmark of advanced intelligence. Our dependence as a specie, and success with tools, is destroying our niche, leading to potential extinction. Historical prolonged hegemonic leadership leads to destruction. There is plenty we do not know about things on our own planet that we would do well to learn from before seeking our extraplanetary posts. We are in no way ready for alien interactions.
