This is also part of the steps to be taken to insulate themselves from sanctions on a future Taiwan invasion (maybe in 10 years or so). China is a major food and energy importer, so they need to have protection against financial sanctions for when the time comes.

But its legitimately not a narcotic... that's a ridiculous classification
54
It's clear who Japan thinks the villain is.
49
Lol fake news.. Nice try Chinese WuMao
44
It is definitely not the "norm", but it does speak to the descent into nationalism that China has become, that this could even be conceivable. The fact that she was forced to make an apologetic wechat post shows that it was not only the thoughts of that single officer alone...and keep in mind there were people who agreed with the officer
44
Lol go for it. Ain't nobody scared of you
42
China's civil/military fusion policy is to blame for this. There is absolutely no technology manufactured by the Chinese private sector that cannot be forcefully co-opted by the government. With said, it's only logical that governments would now raise an eye to any sensitive software or technology that is installed in sensitive systems or areas. This is a logical blow-black that Beijing likely did not conceive when crafting this policy
29
Yeah it's permanently cut off until it isn't.. North Korea is like a small child crying for attention and changes its mood on a whim
24
The plant only addresses about 5% of the needs of the US. So no, Taiwan was smart and kept it's advantage
24
@A. A. As you see the video, they used to develop 40% of the worlds chips. They also literally invented the semiconductor. Problem is they outsourced a lot of their manufacturing for it. They still design up to 60% of the world's software for semiconductors
18
They are trying to insulate themselves against a future invasion of Taiwan. So in that regard, you are correct. China is a major importer of food and energy. If they are sanctioned when they invade Taiwan, it'll be extremely crippling to their economy. Securing energy is one of the steps/goals to insulate themselves
16
100% true.... I love how they say it "destablizes the region" or whatever... like them lying about militarizing bases didn't exactly do that, or justify this response by the Philippines. Projection at it's finest...
15
Best believe part of the deal of building those schools is that they will need to teach favorable things about the CCP
14
@Penultimo-o3v There is no elaboration... just Chinese bot nonsense...
13
Because China is an Ethno-State. To them - if you are ethnically Chinese than you are one of "us" - in the eyes of the government. A piece of paper saying you are now a citizen of another country is simply a formality to them and if anything an insult that you denounced your Chinese citizenship. They don't respect or truly recognize ethnically Chinese that now have different nationalities.
12
China: "we oppose interference in internal affairs of other countries." Also China: Here comes our balloon to spy on your nuclear missile silos!
12
Nobody believes you, WuMao...
11
What's also rich is China was just literally requiring a 3 day test for anybody who even wanted to enter a grocery store, coffee shop, etc... in their own country. Yet are firmly opposed to others wanting a 2 day test...okay
11
Lol no, it doesn't....thats what makes this so ridiculous, and shows you the level of governance in China
11
Lol okay. Tell that to Warren Buffet, the greatest investor of all-time, who just sold out of NIO and invested in TSMC
10
@bell-xk5dd Lol okay.. everything is America and England's fault huh? You guys have a weird obsession with blaming everything on the US/West
9
@xmkl38 You think China stealing Philippines territory in the sea would win them friends? Please...
8
@questworldmatrix It's not about history, it's about the present. I also think Japan knows they did wrong in the past, and completely changed themselves...and at that time, they may have been a villain. However - times change, cultures change, people who did bad things die, and the sons should not be judged by the sins of the father. This is something the CCP has not learned ,as they hold onto grudges forever...in fact, it's a tool for them. Anyways, Japan has many reasons to feel China is the villain and it's their point of view. It's supported by facts and it's their opinion
8
Lol nice try Chinese Bot/WuMao
7
Lol China mad
7
@Superpooper-2020 The fact that you say "My India" shows you are actually Chinese. In Chinese, people often say: 我的中国" or "My China", but this structure is weird to say in English. Nice try, Chinese WuMao
7
@irritatedanglosaxon1705 Sorry I only speak English... but yes, I am fine
6
@irritatedanglosaxon1705 Your comment looks like you ran it through a translator. 你会说养育吗?
6
Anger, paranoia and misinformation? You summed up the Chinese government with three words, nice.
6
How about you show you true Chinese name instead of masquerading under this one....
6
This made me LOL
6
Umm this is a lie? It's absolutely not the same situation in the US
6
Has anybody ever noticed that the Pro-Chinese & Anti-Taiwan comments on SCMP videos almost never have Chinese account names? I'll leave you to figure out why
6
@jinlee2617 The Chinese ain't gonna do nothin
5
The US did not lose 18.3 million.. you're insane
5
I'm a bit confused by this comments...China would absolutely have shot that balloon down, regardless of threat to human life - and made an even bigger spectacle of it. So what you said is a bit puzzling...
5
@渡海-q2w Nobody is anybody's master, lets get this straight. Humans are masters to themselves
5
They are showing they don't bow down to bullies
5
Lol not even the Chinese bots can cover up the ridiculousness of the CCP here....
5
@ralphace3071 haha is that every insult you know? Give me more
4
Actually, yes, it is
4
China has been subsidizing their industries for decades and to drown out global competition and dump their products onto the world, distorting global markets. This the hypocrisy and projection at it's finest They're only mad because others are fighting fire with fire, and it hurts their plan to get ahead
4
I live in China and unfortunately the older generation didn't grow up with a lot of rules and especially if they have money - they especially feel they can do what they want
4
560km? It would take a century for them to make up the cost of this project with efficiency gains of this project. This is further over-investment of unproductive assets to boost GDP numbers, plain and simple
4
@secramis4558 Well yeah, thats who I'm referring to when I say N Korea since he makes the decisions. Obviously not the citizens
4
Its more about buildings than the trains.
4
You are absolutely right and thats what they would have done - if they were telling the truth... however their cover up and backpedaling tells all...
4
@ittakes2-2tango They sure seem scared
4
China and India must've put the heat on him
