  1. Because China is an Ethno-State. To them - if you are ethnically Chinese than you are one of "us" - in the eyes of the government. A piece of paper saying you are now a citizen of another country is simply a formality to them and if anything an insult that you denounced your Chinese citizenship. They don't respect or truly recognize ethnically Chinese that now have different nationalities.
