  1. I've lived in China since 2016 and since that time the birth rate has halved (-10% a year). When I look at the historical youth unemployment data - I'm no longer surprised. If you're a young person looking to have a girlfriend/boyfriend, get married, buy a house, start a family (the usual order of things out here) - the job market is going to have a huge effect on that. Keep in mind that if youth unemployment has been going up over the years, how about people who are under-employed or simply not seeing prospects for a upward mobility? Much much higher
