Lol timeout for what.... USA is in a strong position economically, China not so much...and they hold the cards for technology. There is no reason to ask for a timeout when you have a stronger position. You'll probably talk about China holding US treasures...(like all the WuMao's) and go ahead - I'll wait...

@StevenX-v1r So why is it ok for China to be "self-reliant" but then China doesn't want other countries to be self-reliant and diversify away from China (de-risking) ? I don't believe China is on a good trajectory. It's actions have damaged its relationships with most of the developed economies and now it's getting cut off from much needed technology. US and others aren't perfect in this situation, but China does not even for a second that it's even a bit responsible for the position that its in. It's crazy

You realize that China needs to buy US debt to maintain it's trade surpluses right? This stupid argument about China holding US debt shows that people don't realize how it works. US needs others to buy it's debt to maintain it's budget deficits - and China needs to buy US debt (dollars) to maintain it's budget surpluses (which is what an export-based economy needs to function) with the rest of the world. It's a mutually beneficial relationship in that respect and neither's economies could do what they do if it wasn't like that. It's not like China is doing the US any favors by buying treasures or has somekind of leverage.. they both need those transactions, or else China wouldn't do it.

@crescencianominas2387 Do you realize, that China's actual deb to GDP is more than double the US? So if that is your logic, then China is much much worse spot... especially considering they're not as developed and already shrinking population
