China seems to really misunderstand human psychology. One of the purposes of these drills was to wear down the Taiwanese and turn them against their President. The part where they got it wrong was assuming that they would blame her for the drills.... but it's the opposite. They blame China and so it pushes them further away

I'd argue it's already too late. When you wait 70+ years to take a territory...you have missed the boat. They have: 1. their own system of government 2. their own passports 3. their own currency 4. their own trade and diplomats 5. Completely different social rules (if you go to both China and Taiwan, you will see the massive difference) Right now, they are unable to take it, because Taiwan has support from powerful countries and China's military and economy would be retaliated against. They should've done it decades ago, when nobody knew the difference between Taiwan and Thailand

I think they will resist to the end. Even if China takes back Taiwan - they will have nothing to "take back". I think China does not understand this and believes they can bend/force the people to their will

They were trying this for a while, and it actually had some effect. If you look back more than 10 years ago - support for unifying was much higher. Xi came in to power and fucked it up. He is like a strict, heavy-handed dad who tries to do everything by force. Once he saw the lies of the "One country-two systems" they were out.

@calvinblue894 Taiwan is super impatient how? They haven't actively pushed for independence. They haven't flown around China territory trying to terrorize them. They're literally just sitting there, living their life on that island. Xi has changed the status quo and becoming more aggressive on Taiwan. Zero patience, just like with HK. They don't want him to be their Emperor, they want to rule their own life

@calvinblue894 Lol ok....we should believe CCP media then right? That doesn't lie eh? I'll take a free and open media that is not controlled by a government, any day. I have the freedom to look at any media I want, I watch western media and the media from the middle east + Asia. So do not tell me the media I watch has lied to me, when they all around the world say the same thing about the CCP. Do not tell me about lying media, when the CCP lies to it's entire population on a daily basis, from the time they are children until the time they die, and does not allow them to watch anything else
