  1. Right but you're numbers miss something. The type of chips China produces are very low quality in terms of their value. They are mass producing things that go into kids toys, electric scooters, remote controls...etc. Meanwhile TSMC and Samsung are producing the highest quality/most advanced chips that go into things like: iphones, advanced computers, scientific equipment, etc......the value of those chips far outweigh the value created by the entirety of semiconductors produced by China. Remember - not all chips are created equal

Let me give you another example - lets say two people go out and buy things.. first guy brags that he bought 3,0000 things and the 2nd guy only bought 1. Then they compare and the first guy bought 3000 toys for 1 dollar each, but the 2nd guy bought an 80,000 dollar BMW. That is basically China's entire semiconductor industry vs TSMC, Samsung, or even the US in terms of value added. US chips are not near the value of Samsung or TSMC, but they're still pretty high and they create the software and designs that both of those countries use. China does not produce high quality chips as of now, therefore the world does not use China "high quality chips". These are facts, so I don't need to say anything further. The electronic components you speak of that are imported from China to the US and then sold at a profit are - low end, cheap electronics. Which are the only semiconductors that China currently mass produces. Look, your comment wreaks of bias. I'm only telling you what is objectively true - I have no feelings about who produces what. It's just what is the truth right now

It's also important to note that the reason China's market share has increased so quickly in the chip industry is because of massive state subsidies, economic espionage and forced tech transfers - all of which are illegal under the WTO rules...I actually support this ban because if people aren't going to play by the rules, they shouldn't get access to your equipment and research
