By putting that 100% tariff as a punishment to somebody ditching the dollar would only further weaken it, which would make it easier for them to ditch and also encourage others to do the same as the currency weakened. Anybody who has any a clue sees this is nonsense but people who are just in love with his personality and the empty confidence in which he talks will lap it up like a dog

  3.  @nickschwear1610  I'm not talking about the economy, I'm talking about his concept of how currencies and tariffs work. There is actually a good argument for weakening the US dollar as it being the reserve currency is double edged sword with massive benefits and costs. Tariffs would definitely do that but its also a massive double edged sword with its own benefits/costs. My point is - the way he is explaining it is not at all how it would play out in real life

  4.  @qqqqqqqqqqqqqqfaf  I'm saying that what Trump is proposing as punishment would actually reinforce and strengthen others to follow...not prevent them. Tariffs would weaken the dollar, and a weakened dollar would help others move away from it. What he proposes would actually accelerate the process
