This is not quite accurate - Homework is definitely not banned in China. It's been "banned" for the lower grade levels, say 1-3, however... The children are still expected to know the same material for tests and parents still have massive anxiety due to the insane competition. So the result of this is parents have taken on more responsibility and still have their kids study and do homework at home. Effectively, nothing has changed and if anything has burdened parents more

@quinnstanley5930 My comment is in response to the title. Its not my fault if its misleading, its theirs

@astroch You say two things that have nothing to do with each other. I live in China and his observation is valid and correct.... it has nothing to do with sociocultural issues, its just the objective reality

I currently live in China and work as a teacher - and you are absolutely right, now more than ever if this the case

@teebone2157 It doesn't work out like that. I live in Shanghai and the average Chinese salary is 7,000 RMB or about 1,000$ a month. It is not that cheap here to where that thousand works out to being enough to live a good life. Smaller cities are less expensive but the pay is also far less.... its hard to make it on your own out here as a local on a local salary, almost everywhere. Low cost of living and even lower pay

@iamsheep My bad I misread your comment and responded incorrectly. You are right on this and also the critical thinking aspect you mentioned.
