  2.  @bobcharles7716 So the opposite of the picture you are painting is true. PPP is a metric China uses to claim it's the biggest economy in some respect. Its actually not a good representation of the overall economic power. Japan was wealthy before it got old and stagnated, China is old before it got wealthy... and thats exactly why it could be much worse situation than what Japan experienced.

  4.  @bobcharles7716  Gordon Chang is a nut, no need to even reference him. Look man, I don't want to get into it because I can tell your one of those guys that will go on forever. You're inaccurate to act like the PPP is "the way" to value an economy and the IMF does it - because it's one of the methods the IMF uses, it's not "the" method. I also don't care what the CIA does because they're the CIA, not a relevant economic body. Also this is youtube, don't expect people to be "polite". You can argue all you want to, but lets see what happens with China's economy. I am predicting a much slower growth for the rest of the decade and then even slower growth in the 2030's. Meaning China will never reach the overall size of the US economy. We'll see if I'm right

You must only look at tanky, pro authoritarian videos on Youtube, and have your head under a rock on objective facts that are happening in the Chinese economy right now. You're insane if you think that China is in somekind of strong position and the G7 is now somehow scared. I don't know what planet you live on, but it ain't earth

  8.  @bobcharles7716  Let me explain something else to you - your PPP measure of economics is just a theory - it relies on the thinking that the yuan was grossly undervalued, that it would appreciate against the dollar and that will carry it to being a bigger nominal economy. Not only is it a theory based on future projections - the exact opposite has happened in China. The currency has depreciated, the population is shrinking faster and sooner than expected, the property bubble is bursting - with 70% of household wealth in property. Not only is there no sign that China isn't changing it's model in the foreseeable future - it would still have to undergo an extremely painful rebalancing period that would take many many years, similar to Japan. Lastly - I live in China and have for many years, I speak Chinese, and I see it first hand. Nobody here feels like they are winning - since Zero Covid, all of my friends who had the money to leave, have left or will be leaving in the next year. Others want to leave but cannot. They aren't buying homes, and many are seeing the value of the homes they own - fall. You are doing yourself a disservice by believing all of this fake news about how great things are going here, because its all propaganda

  9. Consumer spending should have been up way more given the circumstances a year ago when massive amounts of people were in constant lockdown from Zero-Covid. Saying "it's up from a year ago" is disingenuous to how bad it really is. It's crazy how he puts a positive spin on such bad news
