As Americans, we need to start debating (arguing, fighting, whatever word you want here) about policy, both enacted and proposed, and not about feelings or beliefs. The media (CNN, Fox, etc) all play on our human psychological weaknesses. They are well aware that "righteous indignation" keeps us tuned in much longer than "feel good" stories. The longer we stay tuned in, the more likely we are to view an advertiser and buy their product. Advertisers are their primary source of income.

@ShadowSong634 I didn't think it was that good but thanks Shad!

@johnharrison6745 I'm a science nerd, whatever your real name is. I'm not interested in fighting with you. I'm interested in why your response was so strong. Are you paid to promote an ideological agenda? If not, why was your response so strong?

@ShadowSong634 You are the only person (besides one troll) to comment on how we are being manipulated. That's crazy to me. Do people not care? Is the game so fun/addictive that people want to play it despite being manipulated?

@ShadowSong634 I agree with and support your rationale.

You have got to stop repeating what you hear without questioning it first. I've read this same comment dozens of times stated by people that are just parroting what they hear. America is a democratic republic, meaning that we elect our representatives in a democratic fashion. Our democratically elected representatives swear an oath to follow our Constitution. Put it this way, if we weren't a democratic country, we wouldn't have elections.

What does that saying mean to you?

@johnharrison6745 Please explain John. Thank you for taking the time to back up your comments.

@johnharrison6745 Ooh, getting a little nasty, eh John? Seriously, why are you so angry? Spill it. It's anonymous.

@johnharrison6745 Hi John! I wanted to follow up on our conversation from yesterday as your points really interest me! Thank you for taking the time to explain this to me. It is much appreciated!

I like the joke! However, the US inflation rate is currently < 3%.

@Eddisdedd I'm old but not elderly and I can remember my parents and even my grandparents saying the same thing. If I can respectfully ask you...what's changed? Prices have always gone up since we invented money. All we basically care about is that our incomes go up faster than inflation, or at least break even. However, I'm no economist and welcome your input.

@Eddisdedd Oka and I are two different people but we appear to be saying the same thing...basic economics. Thanks for taking the time to respond! Take it easy.
