Yes, ketosis is something that happens with intermittent fasting assuming you aren’t eating too many carbs during your eating window. Being in ketosis definitely helps with fat burning, as when you’re in ketosis and fasting, you are burning more body fat for fuel, as opposed to when you are out of ketosis. If you are eating lots of carbs, and your blood glucose and insulin is high, it is impossible to get into ketosis and it is impossible for the body to let go of fat. Ketosis is just one health benefit of IF. Ketones are a much cleaner fuel for the brain, and has definitely had an impact on those with seizures, as well as alzheimers. What happens during IF, as well, depending upon how long you fast, is you go through autophagy (breaking down and getting rid of the old and damaged parts of cells). You can also start generating stem cells, which helps with healing.
