@rodbutler4054 I have a 15 year old Honda that had electritical problems due to the ECU suffering corrosion damage (some design fault where some component of the AC would leak condensation water to the ECU case). I also needed to fix the ground wires but other than that nothing has failed. I think at least the Honda engines are probably equal or very close to same longevity as Toyota, there are examples of Accords that have gone over 1 million miles. Obviously all cars need to have stuff like belts, bearings etc. replaced over time when the car gets enough miles.

@cindyaraya7317 Who cares what you and your brother think? I don't have an EV but it's pretty obvious from the stats that soon most cars sold will be electric and there wont even be gas cars available anymore. In China over half already are and same will happen in most other places also. Toyota is hopelessly late and betting on hydrogen that so far almost nobody else thinks will be used for passenger vehicles.

battery will fall off much before the wheels.

@bmw803 I don't believe have used that argument "NEVER HAVE TO STOP FOR GAS" to support EV so what are you talking about? But I can easily see for someone that charges at home it would be more convenient, and they would not need to stop to charge if they only ride to work and back etc.

@jotham123 Are you going to bicycle 1000km when you need to be in a different part of the country tomorrow? What about when you have anything heavier than groceceries to move? Bicycling works only inside cities for commuting when the weather is fine, it will not be replacing cars for many things ever.

@jotham123 Yes, I use bicycle or just walking for most of my trips also but I thought you presented the e-bike as alternative to buy instead of a car. That wouldn't work for many people unless they wish to rent cars regularly, because occasionally one really needs the car for longer trips, bad weather or heavier items.
