@GoalOrientedLifting what are you talking about? There is practically nothing Linux does better than OSX for 95% of users.
7
Pretty fast like 3% in 30 years

@fatoldhikki4837 definitely not Linux if one needs to get some actual work done and isn't just a python programmer.

@GoalOrientedLifting "going from windows ,cause it is getting more restrictive, to OSX is nonsense." Probably the reason most people don't have that motivation when switching? "going to OSX means you get a more restricted OS" Than what? than the Windows people are leaving behind or Linux? Most people don't game, they need the computer to do work and Adobe etc. are on the Mac also with less viruses and stability problems. Gamers aren't the target group of Apple, the target group are professionals that wish to get work done. There is good logic from going from Windows to Mac or from Mac to Windows, but there isn't any logic for ever going to Linux unless one is too broke to buy a Macbook.

@Artoooooor I don't know why people complain about windows 10. Windows 7 was good and I honestly don't see why people think 10 is such a disaster compared to it. I haven't tried 11 yet and suspect I will be staying on windows 10 until support runs out.

@andreaugaragao If you only use mac for the hardware, why are you using vmware in the first place? The host isn't running osx?
2
@user-xb2jx9zx1k "probably make more per year than you ever will" So how many millions per year is that?
2
@crusaderACR That must be why most professionals use Mac and not a linux. OSX can run software like Photoshop and Office etc. that alone makes it clearly superior for people that work for a living.
2
@looneyburgmusic You are probably the exception then.
2
@siema14123 Yes most PC users are professionals, people tend to work for a living, is this news to you? Your opinion doesn't matter because you can't spell or use logic.
2
@Jacob6853 I would rather let the os screenshot all day than use Linux and tinker with some Bluetooth drivers for 4h.
2
@BlogingLP you and the rest of the 3% Linux market share. The vegans of the computer world.

You are seriously worrying about something 13 years away? 😁 Even if Linux is still in use then obviously the software on any important system has been updated or totally rewritten by 2038. In a few years AI can read 20 years of human created source in a few seconds and fix this kind of bugs at least in open source, so this seems like a nothing burger.
1
How many years until some AI could simply port the Linux kernel from C to Rust?

@user-xb2jx9zx1k I said it was the only good reason to go for Linux, not that people don't actually do it. There are people that use Linux just so they can post in places like these how special they are. Kind of like the vegans of the computer world. I have made over 250k in a single day, so no you probably don't and won't make more than I ever will.

@user-xb2jx9zx1k I have made over 250k in a single day, and haven't needed to work for a long time so no you probably don't make more in a year than I ever will.
1
@user-xb2jx9zx1k I have earned over 250k in a day so your childish assumptions about earnings are likely incorrect.
1
@andreaugaragao Well that was what I suspected and my point: you aren't really running the Mac "hardware only" if it's the OS running the vmware host. You could just install the Linux on the hardware without virtualisation or even run the vmware hosts own OS (was called esx if I remember correctly) and install that without OSX. I personally never liked virtual machines on desktops, complicates things like backups when the vm needs to access the hosts drives anyway or I would need to backup a large vm file that changes every time the vm is used.

@toby9999 I think Mac is higher than that, something like 15-18% on desktop/laptop.
1
@Wkaelx they still have 75% so not really in trouble.
1
@manitoba-op4jx What is so much worse in windows 10 vs. 7?
1
@RenoReborn New Macbook air starts at about 1000 Euros or Dollars, if you are broke, you can survive with the 8gb and buy some external ssd when you have the money. Most people that work for a living can afford that and many even get their laptop from the company.
