Always concealed carry, if you are jumped and don’t have a weapon you are at the mercy of the mob or intervention. The couple reported that cop cars drove by, saw what was happening, and moved it along. The couple was saved by women who got them out of there. She drove them to the police station to file a report, and then gave them money, and shoes, because they had everything stolen from them.
