Not a whole lot actually, less then one percet had served. And less then 25 percent are capable of serving. Our defense spending is a lowest percent of our gov't budget in history. And it provides millions of jobs.

abyssinia4ever yea but w don't spend 800 billions any more. Also the way I see it is that every 100k we remove from the budget is another soldier that has to die to achieve the abjective

abyssinia4ever So the soldier shouldn't be doing the job he signed up for and spent years training for?

abyssinia4ever Is protecting our economic interests not important to the survival of our nation. I would die to keep my family from poverty just as much as I would die to keep them free and safe.

abyssinia4ever you know what would have happened had we not invaded Iraq. Saddam would have gotten most of OPEC and china to trade oil in gold not dollars. This would have destroyed our economy! Not only affecting the rich motherfuckers but the common man too. Every war we have been in since Vietnam has been about thing to keep the delicate balance of power that allows globalization to exist. I don't blame you for being ignorant about international affairs considering 90% of people are.

MrTotaled its actually around 25% but only 1% have actually served or are currently serving. Trust me its not that hard to get into the navy, or army for that matter.
