  1. We aren't destroying the planet. We just aren't. People conflate Planet with Ecosystem. Even if we destroy the current ecosystem of planet Earth, thereby killing ourselves off, eventually a new ecosystem will form and Earth will develop newly evolved lifeforms to populate the planet. Earth will be destroyed one day, several billion years into the future when our sun consumes it or when it detonates and shatters this world into dust.
