You can't trust a corporation to do the right thing. That's why we have government regulation, to use the power of the state to force them to do what is right. And don't fool yourself, even if they decide to replace worn out lines with buried cables, they'll still pass that onto the consumer so they can keep their bonuses. Maybe if we had regulations preventing them from behaving that way, we'd have a modern power grid and not this old style that they can just keep making money with the least possible amount of effort.
