  1. The major issue with the church and sexual abuse is that they see all sins, of which they count sexual impropriety as a sin be it rape or consensual infidelity, as being the same. Taking the lord's name in vain is the same as raping a child as they claim God would see it. It gives them permission to discount such activity as something they can ask God for forgiveness for instead of a mandate to protect their community from someone who would hurt them.
