  1. I need to disagree with you when it comes to the criticisms for 2016 Ghostbusters was misogynistic. A lot of it was anger about how bad the effects were presented (using the announcement trailer as a guide), followed with a series of reboot fatigue, and an extremely small but vocal minority of actual misogynists. My complaint was that the story was orders of magnitude less intelligently written than the original or even its sequel. Problem is, EVERY criticism was painted as misogynist and used an an excuse for the movie's failure BEFORE it was even released. They knew they had made a dud and wanted to cover their asses.

  7. The one thing I hated about this costume is that it hid Willem Dafoe’s magnificent rubber face acting. It’s why his portrayal in Spider-man No Way Home so much better, you get those deliciously deranged expressions fully visible!

  8.  @Spacemonkeymojo  Have you seen early make-up tests? The original looked FAR more like the comic book version. If that had been the way they went, you'd REALLY have seen that awesome Willem Dafoe rubber-face acting adding to the menace the character had. Seriously, look up "spider man original green goblin makeup test," the first few thumbnails alone will give you chills.

  9. I don't think there's a BAD Terminator film. Less good ones, but not bad ones. I genuinely liked Dark Fate in spite of all the hate it gets. Three is my 4th total with Genisys being my last place.

  11. Too many people forgot Short Circuit and Short Circuit 2. They'd probably be cancelled today because of Fisher Stevens playing a Hindi man with a totally fake accent and brown face.

  16. I know the filming set hasn't been kept, that got destroyed filming the scene were Ash gets sprayed with blood from the walls after shooting his severed hand. It was LITERALLY the last scene they shot.

One of the things that constantly pisses me off whenever I hear people talk about real world space travel, from the Apollo missions, landing on the moon, to the space shuttle era, all the way to today's ISS missions, and ask me, "what did we really accomplish?" They ask that like there is no tangible results, which there are a ton of ancillary technologies that we enjoy today that began life in the space missions, but also there are a TON of intangible results. It inspired a generation of people to enter the sciences, many wanting to become astronauts or work on space missions but were unable to and went on to build SO many other things. In short, never underestimate the power of imagination or inspiration.

  21. One, it’s NOT AI. It sophisticated computer algorithms, it’s not even remotely intelligent. Two, it’s not creating, it’s cobbling together other people’s works. Yes, some people do the same thing, but there ultimately is something unique when they do this. All “AI” looks and feels the same. Lifeless, bloodless, and soulless.

  23. R2-D2 is absolutely a happiness machine, except when he's damaged. Seeing him get blasted at the end of A New Hope is genuinely sad to see.
