While I agree on principle, your statistics are misleading.  While I don't dispute the raw number of people who died, you also have to look at population percentages.  You bring up the Revolutionary War.  I have to imagine the number of deaths in that war compared to the overall population of the colonies and Briton, those deaths were FAR more devastating than the number of deaths after Sandy Hook.  Is it tragic?  Yes.  Is it obscene?  Yes.  Should we pass legislation to stop, or at least slow, the needless loss of life?  Yes.  But, make sure when you give context, make sure to give ALL the context.
