I had open heart surgery when I was 14 months old, to repair something called Patent Ductus Arteriosus.  Essentially, the descending thoracic aorta and the pulmonary artery were connected.  I was getting my oxygenated and my unoxygnated blood mixed, which was stunting my growth and development.  They sent me from New York State to Oklahoma to have the surgery.  I got excellent care, and was walking not long after (having never walked before that surgery).  I shudder to think what would have happened if I'd been entrusted to the tender mercies of the Rick Scott administration back then.  If there is a hell, there's a special place there for men like him, being constantly torn apart by the babies he helped kill.
