  1. Andrew Carnegie, a man said to be the third wealthiest person in the modern era, put it best. He left his children "enough money to do anything they want, but not so much that they can do nothing." What did he do with the remainder of his wealth after he died? He funded libraries and artistic venues. Carnegie Hall was the product of his philosophy. He was a greedy prick who fought hard to maintain a monopoly, but had a better understanding of the corrupting influence of wealth that people today. Strange contradiction to be sure.
