MSNBC and CNN DO stand for something... Selling ads. Some things work very well in a capitalist or even corporatist setting. Some things don't. News is one of those things that don't, because it ceases to be news and becomes, at best, spin and at worst, propaganda. It also doesn't help that people only want to hear what they agree with, so they go to the places that coddle them. Fox has an extremely dedicated following that represents a tiny minority of the populace. But when you've got 300 million, one percent is three million viewers.
