  1. There are a lot of breeds of socialism, and we fought a cold war against one specific and toxic form of it. But never let an enemy die, because you gain power from the perception of fighting it. We've always had some amount of socialism in this nation, and we love most, if not all of it. But, the people who use socialism as a scare word try to define those beloved programs as not being socialism. Trying to take over the entire system with socialism is a bad idea, and yet no one serious in our political sphere is suggesting we do. They want to take the parts that are clearly not working with private sector control and make a social program out of it. They call it socialism to terrify people into shoveling ever more money into the pockets of these wealthy corporations, and it happens to work.
