  1. There aren't a lot of constitutional purists out there. Everyone has some ideology, for good or ill, that gets in the way of interpretation. Even the so-called constitutional scholars have some bent toward the left or right. So, they have some conclusion that they prefer, and interpret the constitution in a way that favors that conclusion. The constitutional conservatives aren't seeing what he's doing as obstruction. They see it as pushback against frivolous and harmful investigations. It's wrong-headed, but its obvious they don't see what we are seeing. And it's really hard to find a genuine objective view because we're so polarized now. So, yes, it's hypocritical, and certainly disturbing. "It's okay when our side does it," doesn't work. We need a single standard, not a double standard.
