  1. He's not saying anything about Fox News because he's still under contract. He might not be in front of a camera, but he's still technically an employee and they are contractually obligated to pay him for the remaining time on his contract. That is, unless he breaches the contract, in which case they can fire him for cause, dissolve the contract, and keep the money. There are also rumors they have a file of dirt on him and will release it publicly to embarrass him and make him un-hirable anywhere else.

  2. I disagree the most profitable thing he can do is make his own network. Something like a Daily Wire or The Blaze might seem more profitable, but he'd quickly become a single voice in a smaller crowd where he was the biggest voice on one of the largest networks previously. Besides that, he's already wealthy, even before his trek through cable news at CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News. His best move, the one that will prove most profitable for him, is to go away and retire from public life. Anything else will require his investment to cultivate far less influence than he ever had and never recoup that investment.
