  1. There has been a perverse glut of women sitting on allegations for decades as of late. I cannot take an allegation all that seriously if someone was willing to wait SO long after the event to bring it to anyone's attention. One of the major facts involved here is that there is a statute of limitations on rape and that's five years. If you wait for 20 years to come forward, the only thing you can get out of it is victim brownie points and maybe to tarnish someone's reputation. Justice is well and truly off the table at that point. Not only that, you punish other rape victims by collectively making them seem like petty calculating power or attention grabbers. If you could live with a sexual assault for 20 years, you can live with it for the rest of your life and, callous as this is going to sound, you probably should.
