  1. One thing is clear about the Republican party. A cancer has spread throughout it. They're putting all their energy into holding onto power when they need to put all their energy into cutting out the cancer. They'll lose in the short term, maybe even for a generation. But when the cancer is finally gone and they've recovered, they can start building up their base and come out stronger. Instead, they're killing themselves. If they truly care about the ideals they espouse, they'd be willing to lose now to survive and fight later. Conservatism won't go away when the Republican party dies, a new party will eventually take up the cause, but it'll have to start from scratch after the Democrats cement power in their absence.
