I would argue that our nation hasn't failed yet, but it's well on the way to doing so. Then again, this nation has never been truly functional. It's been dysfunctional for its entire existence, though we've made progress to fixing a lot of that dysfunction. Presently, there's a lot of corruption infecting the system, and it could kill the host as it were, but we could still clean out the puss and the disease and heal into a mostly functioning system if we worked on it.
