They know that each Confederate state had in their constitutions (when they were Confederate states) or their declarations for seceding that they wanted slavery, that black people were inferior to white people, and that their proper place was as slaves. Yeah, this states' rights issue was the fig leaf they STILL use to excuse horrifyingly evil racism and love of slavery.
