  1. A lot of the time when people say "right wing" they're specifically referring to the religious right. Now, they certainly ARE right wing, and maybe even the majority of the right wing (at least in this country), but they aren't the only members of the right. Not even all religious right wingers are pro homophobia or are culture warriors. It's an unfortunate ad homonym attack to refer to someone as right wing to discredit their ideas. Homophobia is a terrible idea that is competently discredited without bringing up the political ideology of the person spouting it. If we're going to be more successful as a group (the left), we need to strengthen our arguments to not attack people but attack bad ideas and leave out political ideology. We'll win over more centrists and even convert some on the right and our preferred policies will be more likely to become law.
