If I were being charitable, I would suggest the caller is confused as to the difference between gender affirming care and conversion therapy. To him, they're the same concept front two different sides. They both seek to change a person's identity, but the conversion therapy would be preferable as it doesn't require surgery to accomplish. Being realistic, this is a mindset he has either talked himself into or has been convinced by less scrupulous people. Gender affirming care has a proven track record of success whereas conversion therapy has a proven track record not only of failure but of fostering suicidal ideation and actions.
