Occam's Razor wasn't even designed to apply to the Scientific Method. William of Ockham was a theologian and philosopher, not a scientist. The fact that it can be applied to the Scientific Method doesn't make it a scientific tool. A screwdriver can be used to drive screws or to chip ice, but it doesn't make it an ice chipper. Plus, Occam's Razor is designed to deal with two competing hypotheses making the same claim, not two totally unrelated claims. Donald Trump being corrupt is a separate claim to an army veteran being a double agent.
