  1. The information itself isn't necessarily classified. A ball made out of duct tape filled with sand isn't exactly crippling to America's border patrol. However, one has to consider why something like that was classified. Sometimes a non-threatening event is classified not because of the event, but how they discovered or recorded the event. Means and ways are 9 times out of 10 why something is classified. Revealing what you find can inform how it was found and we need to protect how it was found to protect our intelligence apparatus. This is why we don't entrust congressmen and women with classified information, they don't know what does and does not need to stay secret for that end.
