This is the result of being raised by a different megalomaniac, Fred Trump. A man who taught him to never compromise, never admit fault, lie easily, and be willing to cheat. This is a man who didn't start with nothing and had to work his way to where he is now, he started with a massive fortune, so never had to learn what makes a successful business. He never allowed contradiction from his subordinates. So, this level of ignorance is expected. Even now, his own allies could fully unite against his tariffs and explain why they aren't working, and the lesson could not sink in. His ego won't allow it.
