  1. The idea of American Exceptionalism is what makes us so behind on all these issues. If we think our nation is perfect and that the world can't do what we can, then we don't think we need to change, and that's exactly what the wealthy elite running things here wants us to think. We ARE exceptional, but in all the wrong ways.
