Political parties are like living organisms, they evolve in order to better fit their environment or they die off. I don't see a party that has been in the establishment for well over a century just dying off. They'll adapt, change strategies, adopt policy ideas with broad appeal. Maybe they'll end up like the Whig party, die off to be replaced by a new one, but that's not nearly as likely as one might think.
