Other functioning democracies have impeached, removed, charged, and convicted their leaders. We felt a certain bit of pride as a nation that we never did. I think there have been presidents that should have been. Mostly Nixon and Regan for criminal acts they participated in. Trump not being thrown in jail for his criminality shows our nation is too nostalgic and beholden to appearances than is healthy. We are a completely dysfunctional nation and it's about to hurt all of us.
