This isn't a misunderstanding, this is a calculation. I honestly believe he understands what this is about, that he's being charged for actions not speech. What he's trying to do is rile up his base and foment violence and chaos so that the prosecution backs down out of a sense of self preservation. It's Mafia mentality. It means he's scared, and he should be. He's finally going to receive consequences for his actions and experience reality for the first time after living a life of a carefully constructed fantasy.
